| For the week ending November 11, 2011, 41 residential listings were placed under contract by Columbia area agents. Of these, 28 have Columbia mailing addresses. The prior week was 26/17, respectively. This represents an increase of 57.7% overall and an increase of 64.7% for Columbia addresses. This means that in the past 2 weeks, 67 (compared to 67 reported 2 weeks ago) families agreed to buy homes, not including private sales, which are not reported to the Columbia Multiple Listing Service. The reason the numbers are the same in spite of the increase of this past week is because of the rolling total of two composite weeks. In spite of a common misconception, people are buying homes now and they will continue to buy through the winter months. |
